Egypt's Zohr gas field output hits 3 bln cf pd

Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tareq Al-Molla said on Monday that output at Zohr gas field has hit a record level, more than three billion cubic feet per day.

The minister, during a joint general assembly of PetroShorouk and Petrobel companies, said Zohr gas field, the largest in the Mediterranean, covers 40 percent of the national gas output.

He added that the production significantly increased after digging wells south of the field in the depths of the Mediterranean, bringing the whole number of the wells to 15.

The minister also indicated that employment of state of art technology for exploration in coordination with the foreign partner, the Italian Eni group. and its partners, would enable Egypt to reach more feasible underground strata.
